Hi! I’m Natalie, I’m a small-town girl from Humphrey, Nebraska. In high school, I always loved helping the elementary teacher with their students during my free period, but mostly you could find me spending most of my time in the art room. My mother was an artist and I definitely took after her for picking colors and drawing. Even at a very young age I knew I wanted to be an artist. I would get so excited school shopping because that always meant a brand-new box of sharp crisp bright crayons!
As I went through high school, I followed my passion for art along with my general studies. By senior year I was gathering up all my work and hanging them up for my graduation party. I was sad that I was not continuing my dream for art, because a starving artist was not the life my parents thought would be best for me.
So, I started my first year at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, going for my bachelors in elementary education since I loved working with the kids in my home town. Lincoln was much bigger and different than little ‘ol Humphrey. I felt so out of place at the university that I was ready to give up, until my parents said just give it one more shot, only this time do what your heart wants: art. I changed my major and never looked back.
During the fall of my junior year I went to the UNL career fair for business and art students. I remember going and seeing just a handful of people looking for designers, but most of them wanted students with a business major. As I waited in line to talk to one of the very few companies looking for designers, I met a woman who was working another booth, and we chatted for a bit about my designs. I found myself in the right place at the right time because she passed my resume on to Transformation Marketing.
I got an email from them asking if I would be interested in interviewing for their graphic design position as an intern. I was so surprised and excited because they were a small company that made a big impact, and that was just where I wanted to be. After showing them my designs they asked me to be a part of their team. I couldn’t be happier working for such a great group of talented people.
I am currently in my senior year at UNL in the Hixson-Lied College of fine and performing arts studying graphic design and photography. Transformation Marketing has become my second home, helping me learn and grow in design.
